Indian Lake Fire Department

ILVFD- Chief Andrew Hartman

Update: We recently have contracted to purchase our new tanker/pumper to replace the current 37 year old tanker. Due to the supply chain issues, we will not see this truck until the middle of next year.

We have also started a cadet program which accepts volunteers at the age of 16. These new young volunteers will be allowed to respond to calls with us and assist, but not be put in direct danger. All of your Indian Lake Firefighters have been hard at work, putting in extra hours at events and trainings and I am very proud of all of them. Our next pancake breakfast is on July 3rd from 0700-noon and we hope to see everyone there. Stay Safe!

Update: Station 2 is really starting to take shape. The supply chain issues have substantially slowed things down for us, but we are finally beginning to make progress. In the next few weeks, the contractors will begin work inside the building, followed by the plumbers, electricians and mechanical contractors. The outside drives will begin to take shape soon and we hope to be in the building by late summer.

Golf Carts

Golf Carts are not allowed on roadways in Silver Creek Township. This law is enforced.  For more information click this link.

Parking

Please do not block any portion of the roadway with your vehicles at any time. Far too often people park their vehicles blocking a portion of the roadway, making it difficult to impossible for emergency vehicles and first responders get to those in need. For example: Firetruck Cabs are 100 inches wide!

Walking in the roadway

Where sidewalks are provided, pedestrians shall not walk upon the main traveled portion of the road. If a sidewalk is not provided, they shall walk on the side of the road, against the flow of traffic (MCL 257.655) Walking against the flow of traffic allows the pedestrian to better see oncoming traffic and remain out of the roadway. Pedestrians do not have the right to block or detour the regular flow of traffic. So please practice safety for yourself and others while enjoying our beautiful area!
